Earrings - Kōwhaiwhai - Clear

Kōwhaiwhai: A traditional artform that communicates tribal narratives. It is an abstract visual artform, mostly painted, and seen in the rafter (heke) patterns of meeting houses (wharenui). The koru and kape are normally the main elements that are used to create a Kōwhaiwhai pattern. The Kōwhaiwhai pattern created for this product refers to growth.

Nichola Te Kiri

Friends of Māori artist and designer Nichola Te Kiri noticed a growing contemporary jewellery collection in her studio. In November 2011, they created a Facebook group to promote and sell her beautiful handcrafted pieces, which honour Aotearoa’s heritage with a contemporary Maori design twist.
